Patience
Thursday, January 21st, 2010Patience is the key to poker. Seriously-be patient…I can’t stress it enough (apparently). When you play tournament hold ‘em online poker , the key is to wait for your proper cards. Don’t go in with any two poker online cards, you need to wait until you can make a good hand on the flop. One of the biggest mistakes that I see and occasionally commit is to get bored or impatient during a slow streak and start playing with subpar hands. I can think of countless times when I’d have a streak of crap cards and I’d make some ill-advised bluff with crap, only to keep betting after the flop missed me. It’s really a great way to cripple your chip stack. When you get impatient and start betting with mediocre cards, it won’t take very long for you to start wondering where your chip stack went. In a tournament situation, make sure that you have a lot of outs when you bet, because few things are more disheartening than making a big raise before the flop, only to see some overcards really hurt your prospects. Pay attention to the loose bettors the next time you play-they may see a lot of action and they may even start out with the large chip stack, but eventually their loose play will break them.
